Goldenwood Forest is lined with a mixture of golden and orange trees as well as golden grass. A flower bed can be found to the south-east. North of that is a central lake that peters out into a river to the north. Across the bridge of the river is a small four-way crossroad. Goldenwood Cave can be found to the north just past an elderly lady and her Furfrou who will gift you a Potion.
Goldenwood Forest is also the site of the player's first interaction with Team Xen, Shadow Pokémon and a Dimensional Rift.
Upon completion of Goldenwood Cave and a battle against Melia, exiting the cave leads to a cutscene where the route's inhabitants are being attacked by a Grunt and their Shadow Meowth. Enter the code 6489 into the briefcase to receive 10 Poké Balls and the Snag Machine, a device which allows the player to capture a Trainer's Shadow Pokémon in a Poké Ball.
With Wispy Path blocked off, the player has no choice but to escape south, back to East Gearen City fighting the Xen Grunts and eventually Zetta, a Team Xen Executive. Melia following behind the player will heal their party when spoken to.
After the Incident; flowers patch lower left of the small waterfall after the cuttable-tree, requires Surf / Golden Surfboard and Cut / Golden Axe(hidden)**
