Field Effects are a battle mechanic used in Pokémon Rejuvenation.

Although previous main series games have touched on the concept of the environment of a battle being able to affect some of its aspects, through mechanics like Terrains as well as moves like Nature Power and Secret Power, Field Effects take this concept much further, allowing for much more complex interactions and diverse strategies.

As of v13.5, there are 48 different fields which appear throughout the game that give rise to Field Effects. Many fields can be generated by certain moves or combinations of moves, but a number of them require the player to be in certain locations for them to appear in battle.

General Mechanics

  • At any point during a battle, there can only be one active field in effect. However, there may be multiple fields in the form of layers stacked on top of one another. When the topmost layer is terminated, the one below it becomes active, given that it is not temporary and not too many turns have passed. If all layers are terminated, the battle becomes fieldless.
    • Certain fields can be overlaid on top of the active field. Generating Electric/Grassy/Misty/Psychic Terrain while another field is active causes the terrain to overlay and give reduced effects. The original field remains active and, for most purposes, the terrain is not considered to be an active field.
  • On many fields, certain moves gain a secondary type. In such cases, the moves function akin to the move Flying Press, which means that the secondary type is taken into account only when calculating type effectiveness, and all other mechanics that involve a move's typing consider the move to be only its primary type.
  • If a damaging move transforms a field into another field, its base power gets boosted by 1.3x.

Altering Fields

  • Most fields can be generated and transformed through field-specific interactions described on their respective pages. Some fields do not have any such interactions; however, all fields can be transformed (unless specifically disallowed) through the following moves:
    • The Lycanium Z-Move Splintered Stormshards will transform the field to Rocky Field for 2 turns.
    • The move Steel Roller will disable the field for 5 turns.
    • The Intercept Z-Move Domain Shift will transform the field to a random field. The lists of fields varies by route:
      • Both: Electric Terrain, Grassy Terrain, Misty Terrain, Swamp Field, Desert Field, Icy Field, Rocky Field, Cave, Mountain, Deep Earth, Psychic Terrain, Haunted Field, City
      • Paragon: Rainbow Field, Forest Field, Factory Field Water Surface, Crystal Cavern, Snowy Mountain, Blessed Field, Fairy Tale Field, Starlight Arena, Bewitched Woods, Sky Field
      • Renegade: Dark Crystal Cavern, Volcanic Field, Corrosive Field, Corrosive Mist Field, Volcanic Top Field, Short-Circuit Field, Murkwater Surface, Dragon's Den, Dimensional Field, Frozen Dimensional Field, Infernal Field, Back Alley
