Martin
Martin is Aevium's Normal Gym leader. He's from Neverwinter and is the Aevium League's newest addition, having obtained the role shortly before the events of Chapter 15. He was recommended to the league staff by Kreiss.
Appearance
Martin is a tall, bulking figure with a scruff appearance and a tan skin color. He has a perpetual shadow cast over the upper half of his face and has a scar running across his left eye. His hair, beard and mustache are dark brown, but has some grey running through it due to his aging. His hair style is rather messy and sticks out in various places, most notably on the top of his head, as well as that his bangs nearly cover his eyes. Martin primarily wears leather biker clothing. His jacket is primarily black with desaturated brown and white accents. He wears grey leather pants that are sloppily tucked away in his boots, and wears a black belt around his left leg with a silver colored belt buckle. His boots are primarily dark grey with black and brown accents, and reach up to just below his knees. Around his neck he wears a tattered light yellow silk scarf. He also has a biker's helmet, one that is decorated with the colors of a Zigzagoon.
Personality
Martin is described to be a gentle giant; despite his intimidating appearance, he actually is a big softie and very kind towards people. While rather easily flustered, Martin is a dependable and well-spoken man, being more socially adept than his partner Kreiss. On the other hand, he is much quicker to worry about the safety of others— caring deeply for their well-being, and as shown in his phone conversation with Kreiss is not above scolding people for reckless behavior despite his otherwise gentle disposition. It is also hinted at in the same conversation that he does have a side to him where he's more than willing to turn the place upside down with reckless abandon in attempt to save the people he cares about, but he's quick to calm down once he realizes they're safe.
It's implied he has something of a superstitious streak according to Kreiss' dialogue at the Garufa Sanctuary, saying that he tends to watch documentaries on the occult over and over.
Biography
Martin is mentioned a few times by Kreiss throughout Chapter 7 and Chapter 8, but only makes a proper appearance in a hidden scene available near the end of Chapter 8. In a phone call Kreiss makes to his home in Neverwinter, Martin frantically picks up the phone and starts yelling at him, scolding Kreiss for not having contacted him in weeks. When he finally lets Kreiss explain the situation, he calms down, but asks why Kreiss always keeps getting himself into trouble. When Kreiss says he thought Martin would've gotten used to it by now, Martin once again freaks out and says it's no excuse to keep putting himself in danger at every opportunity. When Kreiss muses that he wasn't actually in any danger while imprisoned by Angie, Martin ponders in turn if she was keeping him alive for some ulterior motive that they didn't know about, but the topic is dropped once Kreiss notes that he doesn't really care much for it either way. After Kreiss apologizes for not having kept in touch, Martin cheers up a bit and laughs about how it's very much like him to forget to use his phone, and asks if he's coming home soon. After Kreiss confirms he will once his business is wrapped up entirely, Martin says he's looking forward to seeing him again, tells him he missed him and hangs up the phone afterwards.
During the events of Chapter 14, it is mentioned that the Mega Audino that travels alongside Aelita is Martin's, and was given to her by Kreiss. Whether this was with his permission or not is unknown.
Sometime before the events of Chapter 15, Martin was introduced and accepted into the Aevium League as the new Normal type leader, as per the recommendation of Kreiss. The Normality badge that the Protagonist received from Marianette is deemed invalid due to the dubious means it was obtained, even though it has a chip from the League in it— despite that, Martin himself is not fought for it or seen during this chapter at all, and instead Melia is fought in his place as the Reserve Normal leader.
Pokémon
His only currently known Pokémon are a Happiny and an Audino capable of Mega Evolving.
Relationships
Kreiss
Kreiss is Martin's husband. He cares an immense amount for him and is usually the person keeping Kreiss out of any serious trouble, but as a result is also shown to get extremely fussy over him if Kreiss gets himself in it and doesn't manage to get himself out on his own merit— even willing to go as far to turn the entirety of Terajuma Island on its head to find him again (though it ended up being unnecessary). In turn, Martin acts as a grounding force to Kreiss, and the latter often refers to Martin in conversation, pondering what he would do or say in a situation like the one he's in right now. Despite this, they care and love for each other deeply and have built up a strong sense of trust over time as shown when Martin immediately took Kreiss for his word and seemed to forgive him for making him worry when he said he would be returning home soon.

Trivia
- Martin's actual occupation aside from his job as a Gym leader is that of an severe weather emergency response worker.
- It was through this job that he got the scar across his left eye— some debris hit him in the face during a mission, but he was lucky enough to get away with only scarred tissue on his eyelid and eyebrow. The eye only sustained minimal injuries and recovered fully.
- Martin owns a snowmobile which he uses to get around Artrica.
- The scarf Martin wears is a Silk Scarf, which was gifted to him by Kreiss a long time ago and has gotten worn and tattered over time, but simply can't bring himself to throw it out.
