Spector is the substitute Ghost type gym leader, replacing Narcissa after she retires from her position. He's a rather reserved individual who harbors an interest in learning about Goldenleaf Town's history in order to connect more with its townspeople.
Spector has neck-length white hair with straight bangs. He wears a lilac, zipped sweater with pockets as well as white pants. He dons a light purple muffler over his sweater, and wears light purple shoes to match. A slight shadow is cast over his face, that appears darker at nighttime.
Personality
Spector is a rather laid-back individual, having a calm, level-headed demeanor. He regards the protagonist as a nice person and treats them with respect. He appears to be a fan of weird things, shown by his affinity for unconventional Pokémon and battle technique as well as his fondness of Narcissa's strange theater decor. He is seemingly interested in the history of Goldenleaf Town, wanting to learn more about it to connect with the local villagers.
At nighttime, however, his personality drastically shifts into something more sinister and off-putting. He appears to be influenced by the otherworldly spirits of Goldenleaf Town -- going on to speak of the pain from the war that they had to endure and witness, and finding the mythology to be interesting to the point of obsession.
Biography
Spector is first encountered in Goldenleaf Town in front of the Giratina statue, introducing himself to the protagonist as the town's substitute gym leader who is currently filling in for Narcissa while she is unavailable. He notices the Phantasm Badge in the protagonist's possession, remarking how he seems to be the new face in town instead of the protagonist as he previously thought, before heading back to his gym.
After his initial introduction, he can be encountered in Wispy Tower exploring the area to better understand the town's past in hopes to connect with the townsfolk. He then leaves for the Lost Castle.
Spector can be encountered yet again in the Lost Castle, where he explains to the protagonist that he is interested in the secrets the castle possesses. He notes the absence of a strong evil presence within the castle, contrary to what others have claimed about the area. He then heads to the Goldenleaf Theater, in hopes of exploring it for himself.
He can later be found backstage in the theater, commenting on the powerful spiritual energy within the building. He reveals to the protagonist that he is originally from Grand Dream City, and then invites the protagonist to battle him for fun inside the auditorium after deeming them an agreeable person. After the protagonist wins the battle, he compliments their skills and rewards them with the Ghost Memory.
"I use the Pokémon I prefer over what's technically the best. Have you noticed? Well anyway, it's almost over now." (- Down to 1 Pokémon)
"You're an impressive opponent. Did you know that?" (- Upon defeat)
"Aww, what's that? Shocked? Worried? Scared? Ah, but there is no need to be scared. No, no, no..." (- Nighttime)
"Hehehe... what a wonderful setting for a battle. We've got an audience, and they're all hoping for a good show. You've already got a good amount of badges, so I see no reason to hold back either." (- Pre-battle, nighttime)
