Geara

Geara is a Team Xen executive, and is first encountered in Goldenleaf Town. He then opens up the hidden laboratory below Wispy Tower in order to obtain the Giratina that was held captive there. He's rather cruel and doesn't think twice about hurting someone if it means furthering his own goals.

Appearance

Geara has black hair with red streaks and red eyes. He wears a black suit with gold buttons and red cuffs, black pants, and red shoes. His shirt that he wears under his jacket is grey and red striped.

Personality

Aside from being cruel, he also comes off as very brash and overconfident. He has a short temper, being quick to resort to aggression when someone disagrees with him; to which he can grow obnoxious very quickly. Along with showing egotistical tendencies, he has a habit of consistent apathy towards his peers and will often actively look down on others – even his own colleagues, snapping back at them on a daily basis.

He takes himself quite seriously, and seems to have a conflicting middle-ground between either insisting that everyone do their jobs properly – or slacking off, as implied by Madelis mentioning that he plays video games too frequently. With important operations, he always refuses to lose; and grows angered when he does.

Biography

Prior to his first major role within the storyline, Geara is seen within the Team Xen lounge area when the protagonist is teleported into there following the events of Carotos Mountain. He attempts to catch the protagonist along with Madelis, Nastasia, and Neved – but fails. Later on, he offers to Nastasia to take on an operation in Goldenleaf Town in order to confront the protagonist – claiming that he “needed an excuse to return to that hick town, anyways”. He works from behind the scenes at first, laying out a path of events for Narcissa and the protagonist to figure out Indriad’s ulterior motives from the past.

Down within the Forsaken Laboratory of the Wispy Tower, he’s shown battling against Ren before the protagonist arrives in order to weaken him. Once the protagonist makes their way to the confrontation with Mosely and Narcissa, he immediately sends the Giratina that he captured from the Forsaken Laboratory after the protagonist, boasting about the fact that he now wields such a Legendary Pokemon. Growing angered once the Giratina is defeated, he then jumps into action to battle against the protagonist himself.

After Geara loses the battle, Narcissa has her Dusknoir send him into a pocket dimension. As it turns out, it’s the same one that both Zetta and Jenner have been trapped in by Crescent. He walks along the path, complaining about how it seems to go on forever; before inevitably spotting both Zetta and Jenner, insisting that they all find a way out of the dimension.

On Terajuma Beach, Geara – along with Zetta and Jenner – are released from their pocket dimension due to Nim turning to stone. He then battles the protagonist, being defeated once more. Afterwards, Giratina flies by to pick all of them up and retreat. Him and the rest of Team Xen then reside on the island, wreaking havoc until the protagonist and their friends were caught as targets; as well as sending out a broadcast displaying their demands for Melia to arrive at the summit.

While not present within the Helojak Factory, he does hold off Valarie, Adam, and Saki with his Giratina on Helojak Island.

Once the protagonist makes their way up to Valor Mountain's summit with Melia and Venam, Geara leaps down from a peak and is quick to begin tormenting and mocking the three of them as he presents a seemingly hopeless situation to them. But when Professor Jenner revolts against Team Xen, turning the tables in a last effort to help the protagonist and their friends – Geara becomes enraged and commands Giratina to drop him into the lava along with his Klinklang. After Nim is dropped into the lava promptly afterwards, he reveals that he’d designed the cable that held her to be snapped in half if someone tried to stop it – to which everyone on the summit, including Zetta, reacts with shock and horror. He doesn’t seem bothered at all, even in spite of the criticism he faces – simply initiating the battle as if nothing was wrong.

Post-battle, he shouts at Zetta to do something, to which the other quickly jumps back into action and restrains Melia as the protagonist is pushed into the lava. Once the protagonist is revived, Geara enters one last battle with them and Venam with his Pokemon at 1HP. Afterwards, Crescent appears at the scene and eventually ends up freeing Giratina – as well as throwing Geara into the teleporter, telling him to send the message to Madame X to “fuck off”.

Later on, it’s revealed that Geara’s body had shattered into pieces due to the faulty teleporter on the summit of Valor Mountain. Nastasia takes on the task of locating each piece of Geara and restoring him back to his normal form. In the Xen Airship, the protagonist gets to visit the room that he’s being restored in – where he angrily yells for Nastasia to hurry up and fix him.

In Chapter 15, he traverses through Axis High University upon being pieced back together – in search of the protagonist. Once he finds them and corners them in the Axis Factory, he demands a rematch. Upon losing the battle, Geara laments about the fact that he hasn’t been feeling the same after being pieced back together – mentioning that the anger inside of him felt as though it’d completely disappeared. He leaves afterwards, swearing to the protagonist that he’ll defeat them the next time that he sees them.

Relationships

Zetta - In comparison to Zetta, he’s extremely short-tempered and can easily grow aggressive. Despite being paired together with him on missions and job tasks frequently, he doesn’t always seem to get along with him outside of battle synergy and prefers to taunt and tease him at nearly any given interval; making remarks such as mocking him for ordering a “woman’s drink” at Neved’s bar within the Xen Lounge. On Valor Mountain, he grows increasingly impatient with Zetta’s hesitance and distress in regards to the operation – which unnerves the other Executive greatly.

Nastasia - Geara seems to be thankful for her taking the time to fix him after the events of Valor Mountain, but he never says it out loud. He implies having regretted talking bad about Nastasia in the Axis Factory, mentioning that “it isn’t right to say, considering she did save him”.

Ren - He torments Ren within Wispy Tower, cementing the idea of him being weak and powerless – especially in comparison to the protagonist. Interestingly enough, both of them grew up within Goldenleaf Town.

Narcissa - Despite Narcissa being his step-mother, he shows no real love or gratitude towards her for raising him. In fact, quite the opposite – blaming her for being weak, and refusing to ever listen to her as they were not related by blood.

Indriad - In a past recording within the Wispy Tower, it’s shown that he used to work with Indriad – claiming that while he may have been considered his step-son, they were also business partners. It’s implied that the majority of the way Geara acts is due to his influence. While they haven’t interacted as of the present day, he speaks of Indriad in a negative manner.
